Practice your skills at home

Start practicing basic skills like braiding, styling, or nail care at home before the course begins. You don’t need to be perfect, but getting comfortable with basic techniques can make learning more advanced skills easier and more fun.

Learn the basics of client care and communication

Hair and beauty is not just about technical skills—communication with clients is key! Practice being approachable and professional. Understanding how to listen to a client’s needs and make them feel comfortable is an important part of the job, and it’ll give you an edge when you start working on real clients.

Watch tutorials and learn from professionals

YouTube is full of tutorials from professionals—watch videos on hair cutting, styling and manicure techniques. These will give you a sense of what you’ll be learning and help you feel more confident in class.

 FAQs

  • Our training courses are offered from beginner level to intermediate level. Everyone needs to start from at least a Level 2 regardless of your Maths and English level. This is because there are certain skills and techniques you will need from the Level 2 course before progressing to a Level 3.

  • Yes - NCC students attend annual beauty and hair shows, competitions and even international trips. Our beauty students recently went to Thailand to learn Thai massage!

  • Yes, you are required to wear uniforms and will also need kits (either beauty or hair). Your tutors will go over everything you need at enrolment.

  • You will practice techniques on class peers, dummies and are also encouraged to bring in a friend or family member to practice on for assessments. However, as you are working in a commercial salon, the general public book in for treatments providing you even more hands on experience.
